Renault Megane 1.2 TCe 130: acceleration (video)

This week we tested the Renault Mégane 1.2 turbo petrol engined version of 100 and 130 hp. We do 0 to 100 km / h with the last one: Is there a difference between the two?

After passing through our hands diesel versions, comes the turn to start testing the new Renault Mégane with 1.2 TCe engine turbo. There are two variants with 100 and 130 hp, but the reduced amount of 600 euros extra, I find totally recommended top version of 130hp now we show, in which the engine without having to resort to change much … except overtaking on two-way roads it shows much more energetic and full.

The first thing that strikes me in the Renault Megane 1.2 TCe new 130 hp is the no disconnect switch traction control, while “playing” with the clutch yes get the wheels slide for best record in the 0-100 km / h. This is the car that if decidedly loose clutch 1st speed, traction control lets him literally nailed. Finally, in our own measurement it employs less than 10 seconds for the 0-100 km / h (You can see in the video), and reasonable 31.1 seconds to cover 1,000 meters from standstill. Some records in the segment average: a Peugeot 308 1.2 PureTech 130 HP employs 9.78 seconds.

As for the gearbox, I can not say that this Renault Mégane 1.2 TCe 130 hp is particularly fast compared to its rivals, but the truth is that it meets well on precision and smoothness. The braking capacity of this Renault Megane is correct, with a distance from 140-0 km / h in 72.1 meters… although it is true that the following are already over 74 meters, indicating that the fatigue resistance is not particularly high.

Finally, to answer the initial question of whether more interested in the Renault Megane 1.2 TCe 100 or 130 hp, a good example is the Overtaking test 80-120 km / h in 6th gear: Same exchange developments, the 100 horsepower needs 20.4 seconds, while the 130 hp reaches the same speed in just 14.7 seconds. No doubt: the TCe 130 hp is much faster, spends almost equal and costs only 600 euros more. Worth.
