Citroen C4 disappears … at least until 2020
Goodbye Citroen C4, welcome new C4 Cactus. Renewal in early 2018 Cactus supposes, as I anticipate, to stop the conventional C4 manufactured. At least for now …
It’s completely official which in www.autopista.es I anticipate more than 4 months ago today: Current Citroën C4 disappears from the range French brand. The announcement was confirmed by the own boss Product Planning Citroen, Peugeot Xavier, during the presentation to the press New C4 Cactus. This does not mean that the firm no longer compete as important as the compact segment. Far from it.
“He Citroën C4 current design comes from a 7 years and we had to make a decision. We will stop producing and the C4 Cactus which will take its place“, Said Xavier Peugeot. Indeed, the strategy is to be the new C4 Cactus (curious, but in his tailgate no longer see the word Cactus, but simply C4) which agglutinate in its unibody hitherto two variants Citroen offered in the segment.
For that, Citroën has “berlinizado” (In the words of its own leaders) the new C4 Cactus, reducing and lowering their classic airbumps (Or padded side protection to address impacts) in order to reach a larger audience large. He has even cut his total height to liken more compact conventional, removing the roof bars. The strategy, at least, can be considered risky, considering that the current C4 despite his seniority remained one of the models clearly best-selling brand.
His replacement, 2020
However, the decision seems, at least at first, temporary. Company sources have confirmed that, indeed, the current conventional C4 disappear … but it could be 2020 or 2021 substitute. Although the reasons are unknown, we can ensure that the brand makes sense if we look at the information that these months also circulating about the Citroen C5.
While the arrival of the Citroen C5 Aircross also speculated that the current sedan C5 disappear (and indeed it has, letting and manufacture), general director of the brand itself, Linda Jackson, was responsible for puntualizarlo in the past Frankfurt, ensuring it was already developing the third generation of the hatchback, and would come in 2020.
At the moment what is certain is that Citroën is turning in the development of these C5 and C4 Aircross Cactus arrive in 2018 moment to channel its range of compact sedans. The brand says will be the most comfortable cars in its category, premiering Citroën Advanced Comfort program, which it includes, in addition to new seats, crystals thicker and better sound-absorbing material, the new ones progressive hydraulic shock absorbers. The new system replaces conventional springs and dampers to ensure a more comfortable driving and smooth response. Soon we can see.
